On Tuesday afternoon came the announcement that 73-year-old all-classical radio station WQXR—owned by the financially-troubled New York Times —has been sold to public radio station WNYC . I had a date to meet a good friend for a coffee at a lovely coffee shop about 30 blocks from my house. I decided to walk there. I opened the gate at the end of my path and was on my way. I managed to get three blocks from home before realizing I had forgotten my MP3 player. No music for my walk? I almost turned around and went home to get it but then thought it would be interesting to just stop and pay attention to all that was around me. What a glorious walk it ended up being! When I was in junior high, the show that I NEVER missed was Solid Gold. It was on Saturday evening and I made sure that my butt was in front of a television, no matter where I was just so I could watch Solid Gold.
