If you’ll recall from my posts on big bands on Youtube, (Swing and Modern) ,  I am a big fan of this kind of music even though it is fairly difficult to hear nowadays, mostly for economic reasons. So when a cyberpal told me that he would be performing last night at the Jazz Gallery with a twenty-piece band called Pittsburgh Collective, I jumped at the opportunity. I haven’t heard any live jazz in perhaps three years, or much live music for that matter.

Filed under: iPhone , App Review I admit, I am a fan of Disney and Disney-related paraphernalia. Theme parks, figurines, movies, all of them are popular at my house. Our honeymoon was to Walt Disney World , and in general we take vacations to go to Disneyland . Oh, I could go on, but I’ll save it for anther post. Yesterday the Disney.com iPhone app [ iTunes link ] was released. It’s free, and it’s pretty snazzy. When you first launch, you’re given a ring of apps to scroll around in a nice 3D setup.

The world of music suffered a missive blow and a great loss as the extraordinary Punk Rock drummer Chuck Biscuits passed away. Chuck (1965-2009) was one of the finest drummers, the Punk Rock world had ever seen. No one hit those drums with precision like he did. The following thread appeared yesterday on Craig’s List/Wilmington/Musicians. While the postings there are often snarky, with musical tastes heatedly debated and talent evaluated sight unseen, this one has an alluring sense of humor. Well, I’ve finally done it. I bought a bass guitar and an amp yesterday, so now I’m a bass player. I haven’t figured out why it has 4 strings, when you can only strum one at a time. Speaking of time, can anybody tell me what drummers mean when they talk about time? The bass has these knobs on top to make the strings tighter.

White label disc jockey promos. Withdrawn 45 picture sleeves pressed in Sweden. Mint Lexingtons with a deep groove, flat edge and RVG in the run off. While this terminology is alien to the general population, these words were often murmured throughout the WFMU Record & CD Fair held at Metropolitan Pavilion’s expansive convention space in downtown Manhattan from October 23rd-26th. Fuzzed out, foot stomping, head banging and shoe gazing grooves from every period of music could be found this past weekend as millions of records were available for purchase under one roof.

Rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars I’ve always had rule with the music to which I have chosen to listen.  This rule can be encapsulated into a single word: variety.  Having limited space on an mp3 player makes for a stringent selective process.  You can’t have too much metal, indie rock, hardcore, country, or hip hop for fear of over saturation of that particular genre.

The film unravels in its ultra-slick avatar, much of what one would have seen in the concert had it happened. And witnessing it with all the helpings of technology for once it makes sense to have the film out and jam the funk out of the cacophony much of what is media and anti-MJ lobby generated noises about things which would be anything but just to the music he gave to the world. And it is not the music alone, for here we see magic being created before our very eyes.

A common trend today is to have different era-inspired, retro baby showers. These themes work great regardless of whether the baby is a boy, girl, or if the parents choose to not know the gender of the baby until the date of birth. Great decades from which to base your shower on are the roaring twenties, the rock-n-roll fifties, the hippie sixties, and of course, the unforgettable eighties. Do some research on each decade, and pick the one that you love the most, and that you think you can be the most creative with.

So, you’ve made the decision to take up learning the guitar. Well done, a world of fun lies waiting before you. Now, one of the most important things to decide before you begin is what kind of guitar should you get? This is dependent on what type of music you’re looking to play. Are you into Rock or blues, metal, country, funk, etc.? The list goes on and on and usually there’s a guitar to suit each particular style.

Jazz Club Rainbow Pub, Digbeth, Birmingham UK 28-10-09 The roar of Ferret could be heard from the bar, and revealed that the quartet had started at the noisier end of their repertoire. And they didn’t let up until the third number, Double Blue . Even that one built to a veritable storm force gale of sound, though it had started rather gently and built in a slow, steady and subtle fashion. Captain Slagwagon was a take-no-prisoners, swirling helter-skelter while Secondary eased the intensity of the mood just a tad.

Part of the fun of this reviewing gig is getting sent stuff by odd new bands you’ve never heard of. It’s like musical Russian roulette, or (more charitably) like Forrest Gump’s box of chocolates – some of them leave a bad taste in the mouth, while some of them turn you on to a brand new flavour. And even though evidence dictates that such things have surprisingly little bearing on quality, you can’t help but look through the press release for hints as to what you’re going hear.

To get a small great sites try to poke phrases similar to “Download Movies Internet”, “DVD Movies Downloads”, or “New Movie Download”. Dragonfly: An ER doctor, anguish for his routine spouse, acquires a period of signals from her containing messages from alternative people who’ve had near-death experiences. What do they mean? You should try two or three searches, with terms like, “DVD Online Rental”, “Music Videos Downloads”, and “Movie Download Web Sites”. Rating2.5 Fans of Paramore have waited in hopeful anticipation for the Brand New Eyes, the band’s third album. But the absence of emotion throughout Brand New Eyes is likely to cost Paramore a great deal of beloved fans. The album begins with “Careful,” a song reminiscent of the style of the band’s debut album, All We Know is Falling’s, which was full of quick music and uninhibited vocals. Regardless of these qualities, the first track is nothing more than mediocre.

For example you can contact areputable caterer to handle the issue with food. You can taste the food before it goes out to the guests and just hope the guests like the food you are serving. Unless you’re a chef adept at serving tons of folk you cannot fully be in charge of this part of a party.

Kurbaan EXPECTATIONS There are good, though not huge expectations from the music of Kurbaan. Good, because there are names like Karan Johar, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor associated with the film. Not huge, because the film doesn’t belong to a quintessential romantic genre in the true sense, something which could possibly lend a ’safe’ feel to the soundtrack. With the film having a background of terrorism to it, there is a certain restriction that happens to the commercial viability of the music .

Today was gray and rainy — not a very pleasant day I guess, although I can see a certain charm in it too. I was looking out of the office window often today to admire the pail watery clouds which were hiding the tops of Manhattan skyscrapers from me, to watch the very basic dance of rain streaks, to simply think about the special beauty of the fall. On days like today classical music and Russian rock go especially well. My sister used to play October by Tchaikovsky — I think it captures my mood perfectly, and I always feel somewhat nostalgic when I hear the music.

Several things inspired me to register this blog. First, I am a composer myself. I use to listen thousands of different albums from the many composers here to study their work, and this brought me the will to share these wonderful songs with people. Some years ago I discovered a great website on the web, from a great producer who lives in Sao Paulo and maintains a website about pop music in portuguese language. His podcast is huge and popular, but it lacks many of the best and less known brazilian songs, because it only plays the most famous ones.

In the Court of the Crimson King King Crimson’s debut album, released in 1969 and entitled In the Court of the Crimson King , was a massively influential album for the burgeoning progressive rock genre, with its interpretation of European symphonic textures and sweeping, long epics which tell cryptic tales of mythical proportions. In the Court consists of five songs which make up the whole of one of the best prog rock records of all time, taking inspiration from classical music and eschewing the blues influence that rock music has displayed from the very beginning with a huge majority of its subgenres.

If, like most of the pop-listening public, you heard Timbaland’s chart-topping remix of OneRepublic’s single “Apologize” before you heard the original, you may be mildly confused about what kind of music the band makes. Timabaland’s signature electronic swizzles and “eh-eh-eh”s leave the impression that OneRepublic is a style-heavy outfit a la Maroon 5, but frontman Ryan Tedder’s plaintive words and woebegone themes don’t fall far from forerunners Keane, Coldplay, and the Fray.
